While most major medical plans help with care and treatment expenses, other costs can add financial pressure to an already stressful situation. Mutual of Omaha’s Specified Disease Insurance can help.
Optimax will continue to offer the Specified Disease plan to benefit eligible employees on a voluntary basis, however will be changing carriers for 2025. Mutual of Omaha will terminate December 31, 2024 and AFLAC will begin as the new carrier January 1, 2025.
If you waived coverage during last years open enrollment, or as a new hire, and you’d like to elect it during this open enrollment, you are able to with guaranteed issue coverage, however you will be required to complete one (1) medical question: whether or not you have major medical coverage. This is required for you to have Specified Disease coverage through AFLAC for 2025. After open enrollment closes, if you elect coverage, you will receive a link from your HR Department where you can complete this action item to enroll in coverage for 2025.
